My girlfriend (19F) laughed at my (20M) dirty talk attempt and now I think we might need to break up
I lost my virginity to my current girlfriend Allison and we’ve been dating for 5 months. In all honesty I’ve not been over the moon with our sex life. It felt placid and lacking passion, and that’s partly my fault because I’m shy/hesitant/withdrawn/quiet by nature which I guess reflected during sex. But I also realized that I don’t know much about what sex is supposed to be like given my limited experience, and maybe my expectations were skewed by porn etc… so I talked to my friend Brian who actually dated Allison before me (amicable split, he’s cool with us dating…). Brian suggested I try to spice things up with some dirty talk as Allison enjoyed it when they were dating. I’ve never done any kind of dirty talk before as I don’t feel it fits my personality really, but I thought what the hell I’d give it a go..
So the next time Allison and I were at it I used what I thought was a pretty normal mild form of dirty talk: “your pussy feels really good”. To my horror her reaction was a laughing fit. She kept apologizing through the laughter and then tried to explain that she found it funny just because it was really unexpected… but I find it near impossible to not take it personally and as an insult that she can’t take me dirty talking seriously. I feel like she doesn’t see me as “man enough” to dirty talk, as cliched as that sounds. I guess it doesn’t help that I’ve always had self esteem issues due to my short stature (she’s slightly taller than me). Anyway, she felt terrible about laughing but let’s just say I couldn’t continue after that and we haven’t really talked about it since.
I thought most aspects of our relationship were amazing up to this point, but now I find it really difficult to get over this feeling of being a joke to her…can this be fixed? What do I do?
